Therapist...Check...Create A Practice...Check?

So when I thought about being a therapist in school, I never imagined being able to create a private practice of my very own. Yes it can be a very natural progression for a therapist to get their license and start a practice...but me? I had never built a business. I didn't even know anyone who made a business! How do you even make a business? Well, let me tell you....it isn't as hard as you think in the initial stages. It's just a matter of choosing a name, creating an LLC (that is the structure I chose, but there are others) online with your state, and paying a fee. Oh look! You're an official business! After that, it gets a bit more complex.

Believe it or not, the process to become a therapist and gain licensure is pretty complex. So by the time that process was over...I needed a nap! One of the reasons I would like to offer support and information to future clinicians is because I was not prepared for the hot mess I faced as a new therapist. I had many days where I wanted to quit and didn't feel it was worth all the work. But after finally getting licensed, I thought I had to at least try.

Life got complicated between the pandemic and feeling burnt out, so I moved from New England back to my home state - New Jersey. It was awhile before I was licensed in New Jersey (yes every state requires a license and every one is different!). Now that I had my license and I was a trained life coach, how could I use my skills to continue to help people, but also support myself financially? I spoke with so many friends and colleagues before I decided that I really could become a private practice therapist. So Blossoming Rose Therapy was born! I am still in the process of building the business now, but I am excited that there are so many possibilities.

I want to be able to offer therapy to people, but also groups and speaking engagements. I want to find creative ways to help people who feel like they are stuck in life. I want to use this part of my website to record a bit of the journey I am embarking on because it is one of the craziest and exciting experiences of my life.
